Argyle A. McAllen |
 |
On September 7 1942, Argyle A. McAllen bought his first McAllen Ranch Beefmaster
bulls from Tom Lasater. They were admired by Argyle for their abilities to perform
in any situation. In 1956, Argyle began keeping birth, weaning, and yearling weights
on small herd of Beefmasters with the intent to improve the quality of his cattle.
Today those offspring rank as some of the top performing bulls in the Beefmaster

Purpose |
|
The purpose of the Argyle A. McAllen Performance
Award is to promote performance breeding and encourage the raising of quality cattle
in order to achieve the highest standards within the beef industry. A well-performing
animal will set a standard for future breeding development and "raise the bar" for
breeders who will follow. The involvement of registered breeders in performance
testing will reflect their desire to improve individual herds for the good of the
industry and the advancement of the Beefmaster Breed.
