Zanderfords Cowboy |
 |
1991 Zanderfords Cowboy AQHA # 3012440 Solid Sorrel- A true “Last of the Mohicans.” His pedigree represents a line of horses soon to be lost to South Texas. His top side stretches back to King Ranch’s Old Sorrel, Hired Hand, Hired Hand II, and El Columpio. These early lines of King Ranch horses were the cornerstones of any South Texas ranch during the mid 1900’s. They were the foundations of South Texas breeding that have since been forgotten or put aside for more modern breeding. Yet, these horses shaped South Texas’ harsh and unforgiving terrain during the early years of the Quarter Horse breed.
On the bottom side of his pedigree he descends from Cowboy, a son of the W.T. Waggoner Stallion Yellow Jacket. There are not many horses left today with this much Cowboy breeding.
Because of Zanderfor’s unique background, he was purchased from Marshal Ledford Quarterhorses of Durango, Colorado in 2005 to begin building the foundations of the McAllen Ranch horse herd. His pedigree reminds us of more nostalgic time and horses we once knew.

Platinum Playgun |
|
2004 Platinum Playgun AQHA #4548642 Gray -Platinum Playgun is a beautiful dappled gray stallion which we purchased in the spring of 2007.
Dick and Brenda Piper of the Piper Ranch, home of Playgun, were instrumental in helping find this stallion. He is an own son to the world champion Playgun
and a maternal grandson to Peppy San Badger. “Platinum” is turning out to be a very nice heading and healing horse and a solid all around cow horse. We
use him on the ranch extensively for multiple jobs which he handles very calmly and with ease. He has wonderful “cow sense” and a willingness to go to work.
He will not be available for breeding until 2009, although we are breeding him in 2008 to four of our ranch brood mares.
